Audit Process
The audit process is actually very simple if you are prepared. Please have the following materials available for the auditors review:
- Verification records, which would include quarterly payroll tax reports (preferably SUI's or 941's), individual employment earning records and/or payroll records
- General ledger or cash disbursement journal to support whether or not there were sub-contractors or contract labor
- Names and amounts paid to each sub-contractor
- Certificates of Insurance of Workers' Compensation for all sub-contractors (if you do not have the Certificates of Insurance, they will be treated as employees)
- Overtime records
